A message from Karen

October 24, 2012

Hello everyone,

As you all know, this past Montana Regional Sleep Seminar 2012 was a huge success.  The attendance was better than expected and our topics and expert speakers were amazing.  I must share with you a concern I have regarding our conferences.

Coordinating the annual meetings is a very rewarding adventure every year and the last 16 meetings have given me incredible insight on how these seminars should be organized from the planning through to the actual educational conference.  I am seeking Montana Sleep Society members who are willing to work with me on our next Montana Regional Sleep Seminar (2013).  These annual meetings serve to perpetuate the educational needs of our Membership as well as other sleep technologists throughout the country who rely on our conferences for quality continuing education.

I don’t want to see this very important continuing education program fade away so I am seeking Montana Sleep Society members willing to join our MSS Education/Program Committee to “learn the ropes”.  I fear it will disappear when I fully retire.  Please don’t let this happen!

What must be done?  (This is just a brief synopsis)

  • Invite vendors
  • Develop the program topics
  • Identify and invite expert speakers
  • Arrange travel and lodging
  • Arrange breaks and meals
  • Market the MRSS
  • Seek out unrestricted educational grants
  • Complete and submit applications to the AARC, AAST, BRPT.

Consider your own educational needs and those of your peers.  As a Montana Sleep Society Member decide if you want our sleep seminars to continue.  If you should decide to become involved in our Education/Program Committee, please scroll down to the MSS Volunteer form, complete it and send it to me via email jkyrallen@montanasleepsociety.org. Thank you so much for considering this.  I know you will find it rewarding as well!

Sincerely,

Karen Y. Allen, CRT, RPSGT
